The Frame Game

There goes little 4th grade Johnnie off to his first day of school.

As a parent, you have made sure he is dressed for success with his plaid button up (you forced him to wear) and new sneakers. Fast forward about 4 weeks when little Johnnie tells you he is having trouble seeing the board or reading his book in class. What is the first thing you think of? “How much money is this going to cost me? He is clumsier than a bull in a china cabinet; I will be buying him a new pair each month! What will he wear during Gym class or soccer?”

Set Them Up In 4 Easy Steps!

The thought is overwhelming. But never fear! Deer Park Vision Source is here! Let me break this down into 4 easy steps:

  • Step 1: Call and schedule an eye exam. It is never too early in a child’s life to schedule an eye exam; even infants can get an eye exam!
  • Step 2: Show up for the exam! No explanation needed for that one.
  • Step 3: After the exam, talk to the Optician about your child’s activities and lifestyle. We have impact resistant lenses, durable frames, frame warranties, and scratch warranties for the lenses.
  • Step 4: Consider multiple pairs, for backup, sports, or gym class. We all know what it feels like to face plant or get hit by a dodgeball and have our glasses out of whack. Come in anytime for any repairs or adjustments.

Also, make sure you cover all the bases. Whether they play baseball, soccer, basketball, insert extreme sport here (no, chess does not count), make sure they have sports eyewear. This way, they can see the ball coming at them before it hits them, just kidding, they will be able to see and avoid such a thing. Most importantly, their eyes will be safe and no broken frames!
